careyoga | expand your mind | extend your body
PLEASE NOTE THAT I WILL BE ON MATERNITY LEAVE AS OF 01 AUGUST 2015
Vinyasa is a style of yoga based on Hatha yoga. This style is fluid with a focus on the breath. Postures move from one to another and sequences can be quite dynamic, but still allow time for correct alignment. Classes do not follow the same sequence every time, offering variation and a more integrated body-mind practice.
Vinyasa is both physically and mentally challenging.
I always teach to the level appropriate in the class ensuring that beginners are not overwhelmed and more advanced students have enough of a challenge.
Yoga is more than just a physical practice and when time permits it, I include breath work and meditation.
I am passionate about teaching Yoga and sharing the joy it brings to my life.
I have been practicing Yoga since 2006 and gained my 200 hour RYT certificate as a Vinyasa and Hatha instructor in 2008 under the guidance of Cherryl Duncan from Living Yoga in Johannesburg.
My aim is to share Yoga with you by teaching my truth honorably and with respect for all things. I trust that you will find your own truth, happiness and joy in your practice under my guidance.
I am always available to answer any questions regarding yoga, my timetable and availability.

New to yoga?
It is important to remember we are all beginners at some point, and in Yoga there is always somewhere further to strive toward. To start noticeably feeling the benefits of Yoga both physically and mentally, I recommend attending at least two to three classes a week.
• Mats are available at all classes, but it is recommended that you purchase your own (for hygienic reasons).
• Wear soft, comfortable clothing that you can turn upside-down in. Yoga is practiced bare foot.
• Avoid heavy meals one to two hours before and after the class, and hydrate adequately during the day.
“Carey is a calm, reassuring, educated yoga instructor who encourages her students to extend beyond self imposed limitations. Her attitude is light but she directs the class firmly, completing a fully rounded class within the allocated time. I also personally enjoy Carey's outlook on how yoga fits into life. I always leave Carey's classes a happier, more relaxed human being.”
"Carey is a natural teacher / instructor. She understands the meaning behind and nature of the practice and gives her full focus to participants. She has a special talent in making everyone feel challenged and accomplished by the end of a class. I've been going to Suncoast's outdoor class for 2 years and it quickly became a highlight of my week, setting the mental and spiritual tone for the end of the week and the beginning of the weekend. Namaste, Carey" -- Claudine Basson, SunFit Student, Durban
